What’s Wrong With This Picture?

So one day, not too long ago we were called out to a prior client’s custom built home to review an install and to suggest upgrades/changes that they felt uneasy about. There were a number things that we could have pictured here, but chose not to get ourselves into a “situation”.

Looking at the picture to the left, what do you think may be seriously wrong with this picture from an installation completed by a reputable security company? The power cable run at about 25 feet is almost as large as the low voltage bundle run closely parallel to it (for the entire 25 feet). This was our first fix.

An additional item we came across was that the very large quality-built home, had RGB run to each TV location when the world (and all TV’s) is being converted to HDMI (?!).

We won’t get into the speakers that were installed in the large Family Room that had the wire stubbed out of a 1Gang Plate just to re-enter the wall under the little cube speaker mount bracket. That didn’t go so well with the quality of the rest of the room.

Why bring these items up? To ask that builders, architects, designers, and clients have more than one AV integrator come to your home or review your plans before any install. Educate yourselves or ask us (custom AV dealers) to help educate you on the “do’s and don’ts” before it becomes a too late. Spend wisely, not twice.

It’s a common practice to those of us who make our passion into a living, to educate you while we review your projects. Why? Because we care, we want it done right (the first time), and we stand to build a stronger relationship with you well after the installation is complete.
